Eddie got vetted by Ashley’s brother as his mentee in ROTC. Perhaps a scary start, but having David’s approval was very confidence-inspiring for Ashley’s parents. They had to plan their wedding on a 2 month timeline, given an unexpectedly early deployment schedule.
Also—the pastor who married Ashley & Eddie is the son of the pastor who married Ashley’s parents! Full circle :’)
With faith being integral to the budding of their relationship, and their friends and family delivering plenty of jokes (and roasts) during their speeches, Ashley & Eddie’s film feels reverent & whimsical.
